We travelled by Coach from Norwich to London and then rather than tackling the underground again we took a taxi to St Pancras where we stayed in a Travel Lodge for the night, just a short walk to the station in the early hours of Friday morning.

We have holidayed with  CroisiEuroupe twice before but without doubt, this one with Great Rail Journeys was the most stress free way to travel. The boats are quite small being designed to exactly fit the waterways they cruise and only carry 22 passengers, but this year there were only 10 of us and the GRJ rep Tim Hall. This year we would be travelling on CroisiEurope’s  MV Madeleine from Strasbourg to Lagarde. Please click the links in blue for more details

Our holiday started at GRJ office at 6am. on the 3rd. of September 2021 where we met Tim and also GRJ CEO. Peter Liney who had laid on a Champagne reception for us as we were the first group travelling to Europe since the pandemic struck.

Below are some photographs of the Boat and meals we had onboard, not forgetting the wine.

The Wheelhouse in its raised position. It didn’t often travel like this

You can just see the captains head peeping up standing on the side deck with the wheelhouse down

For the boaters amongst you, you need a good collection of shore supply cables over here.

During the week I seemed to attract a collection of wildlife, Susie our waitress was petrified and thankful when I had ejected them.
