Waterways of the Petite Seine & Yonne.2023 Sens

Our Eurostar train wasn’t due to leave until 1022 hrs so plenty of time for breakfast before booking out of The Hub as its only a 5 minute walk to the Great Rail Journey office on the top floor of St Pancras Station. Here we would meet our tour manager Derek before we went to the ground floor and through to departures. This proved to be a painless operation of scanning our E tickets, putting our bags and selves through the security scan and then to passport control, first the UK to leave the country and then the French to officially enter France, the only difference since Brexit is a French Official to stamp our passports. We then into the lounge to sit and wait only to find our train rescheduled slightly but it still pulled into Paris at the original scheduled time.  Derek  our Tour manager was in contact with the coach driver who was waiting to meet us at the end of the platform, which was just as well as he hadn’t parked in the coach park. It was a 2 hour drive to MV Deborah which was moored in Sens but we had 3 hours before we could board, so we spent an hour at a service station beside the main road. Much better than UK service stations on British A roads.
Once at the boat all our bags were taken from the coach and delivered to our cabins and after a short welcome we were each taken down to our accommodation for the week.

Until now the day had been hot and sunny and we decided on a short walk on the quayside before dinner, it was very short, within 100 yards it started to rain and that continued on and off until lunchtime the next day. This was the view from the lounge window as a larger ship passed us just sliding under the bridge in the rain.IMG_20230622_084429
