Waterways of the Petite Seine & Yonne.2023 2 nights in London

This time we started our holiday slightly differently, spending two nights in London at The Premier Inn Hub as opposed to a single night. This was so we could spend a day in London, first visiting the Canal museum which is a very short walk from The Hub and then the London Docklands Museum.
So on Monday 19th June we caught the National Express Coach from Norwich to London, followed by a trip across London in a Taxi in the rush hour. As it was a lovely evening we went for a wander, first crossing the canal on Maiden Lane Bridge  and looking down to see this fish on a bike?

The Premier Hub bedrooms are quite small, in fact smaller than our cabin on MS Deborah, probably 10 ft. by 7 ft. including the bathroom, but they are clean, comfortable and most important quiet, we could see the trains out of the window but couldn't hear a thing.

Tuesday 20 June
Another first, we had breakfast at the Hub, it doesn’t have a breakfast room and breakfast is taken in the Bar, but for just £7 its an eat all you want job, including a help yourself cooked buffet. In the past we have eaten at St Pancras station with an early train departure, today was a leisurely day in London.

Firstly we walked round the block to Battlebridge Basin to visit the London Canal Museum housed in an old Ice warehouse. The canal here could, I suppose be classed as green with artificial soft banks

We then set off to The Museum of London Docklands on both the old underground and the new Elizabeth Line alighting at Canary Wharf. That place in its self is an experience for a country lad like me, after what seemed like ages we crossed the dock on a footbridge to be met with loads of outside eateries, we opted for a couple of £9 meals from The Munich Cricket Club, great value for money for London. After that it was into the free to enter Museum of London Docklands, you can’t get better value for money than that. You could easily spend all day in there and I did leave a Gift Aid donation as we left. Outside a few people were enjoying the afternoon with an onboard BBQ in these circular boats but no one in the floating hot tubs.

It was then back to St Pancras, luckily both Diana and I had a credit card with us, this makes traveling on Transport for London much cheaper with contactless payment. Diner was taken at a restaurant we have used before, Ekachai's before heading back for another undisturbed night at the Hub
