Another of our excursions took us to the Glacier Museum at Fjærland, this time the ferry crossing was only 10 minuets followed by an hours coach drive to reach the museum by the end of Fjærlandsfjorden. Not only does the museum concentrate on Glaciers but also climate change. When we arrived we were shown a fantastic panoramic video of crossing the glacier followed by a sensual climate change tour.
After this we went by coach to see two tongues of the supphellebreen Glacier, I was hoping we would get much closer but they ended several thousand feet up the mountain
To put it into scale here are people standing by the snow at the bottom by the lake in the photo below.
On our return journey we went via a different route which didn’t include a ferry trip, but we did visit a spectacular waterfall at Fossestien.
We then continued on to a viewing point which included a solar powered toilet block.
From up here we had a superb view of the road snaking away from us down into the valley with its hairpin bends
